Generic type events are no longer happening, if you see all events, they are specific to certain area, eg. PyCon, FUDcon, Droidcon, JSFoo,.Ruby conf, Gophercon .. etc. Which is good since audience wants better focus, considering they now have lot of choice in events, they can go for what they like or want to learn. FOSS.in - team has moved on, it would need a similar committed team to pull of another event like that, not to say that such folks dont exist, but as can be seen there are teams doing domain specific confs. Gnunify - it has primarily had student and newbie audience, since being tied to SICSR (its annual Unify event).
