Hi, 1) If you want to do it yourself, http://www.turnkeylinux.org/ has readymade "linux appliance" ISO's and even VMDKs. Its easy to install and maintain. Not very secure to put on Internet or even DMZ though. But excellent inside intranet. 2) Most Linux distros have good automated log-rotate and backup jobs. 3) If you are in business which requires 24x7 uptime and a strong and tested BCP (Business Continuity Planning), say online financial trnsactions, then its advisable to consult someone to setup and verify these **processes** periodically, and have a Linux expert in-house. In-house Linux expert can also be ramped up as a webmaster-weddeveloper-DBA or even an application programmer. Amazingly simple but resilient BCPs can be created and implemented using Gnu-Linux based solutions. thanks and cheers, shyam .... _______________________________________ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List
