Hi all, A mini debconf is being hosted in Pune at COEP on 7th and 8th August, 2010. Like Debian, it is a true community effort, in the sense that there is no formal body behind it. Different people have chipped in with contributions for the event. The debconf team needs a bit of help in areas that I have enumerated below. If you can contribute towards any of them, please reply offlist to pravi dot a at gmail dot com.
1. Sponsorship for T-shirts - If anyone or any organisation is interested, please contribute towards the conference T-shirts. I suppose the sponsors logo will feature prominently on them. 2. DVD burning - Volunteers are needed who will burn installation DVDs (http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/i386/iso-dvd/). For details, please mail at the address mentioned above. 3. Promotional effort - There are plans to go to various colleges and talk about the event over there. If you are a student of a college, you can consider pulling a few strings to help reach out to a wider audience. Drop a mail to the address given above so that this activity can be coordinated centrally and no-one steps on each other's shoes. 4. Online promotion - This one is easy to do. Blog about the event, micro-blog about it, shout aloud on facebook, etc. etc. Help promote the event online. Again, please mail offlist to pravi dot a at gmail dot com if you can help out in any way. Since the PLUG meeting would have normally been scheduled on 7th Aug, we are thinking of hosting it at the venue of debconf itself, at 5 pm, after the last session of the day. It would be a good chance for the local community to interact with all the people who will be coming to Pune from other places.
