I am rather new to Linux hence some of my questions may sound juvenile.
Pardon me for that.
I use gaim ,is there some way by means of which I can use the web cam
for yahoo?

You can use kopete 0.12.4. it supports web cam.
It comes with ubuntu / kubuntu 7.04 feisty.
Check if your web cam is supported under linux.
Typically, after you connect your web cam, check the
output of "dmesg" command.
