Dear Rajendra
32 MB Cache is good enough. It also depends what connection type you
have. IF it is broadband, 32 is ok. About your second question, well
there is some authentication procedure . Refer to www.squid.org/faq section.
As for your 3rd question, there is a utility called SARG ( Squid Access
Report Generator ) avaliable freely which you can download and you can
get all the details you want about what your user is doing on the net,
what site he did visit, which banned sites were tried and from which ip etc.
I hope if not all some help will be there.
Advait.
Hi All
I Have configured squid proxyserver, and I give cache
memory size is 32 MB.I am using squid on a HCL server
with Xeon Dual processor and 1 GB of RAM,32 MB of
Harddisk. Now I have three problems in squid...
1.What size of cache u prefered me to use in this
squid for optimal performance.
2.When a user open Internet Explorer or Mozilla or any
other browser then he should prompt for a username and
password to access the Internet.
3.If a user user try to open banded website/service
how can i catch the ip address of that user.
I am using squid proxy server in RHEL and with it
about 50 computers are connected.
Thnaks to All
