Subject: [PLUG] How reset the root password
does anybody has idea about reseting the root password in linux when the
system boots incase the user has forgot the password ?
regards
spk
Assuming you are using GRUB and haven't forgot the bootloader / BIOS
password[s].
In the GRUB menu use arrows and navigate to linux [ if you have a dual boot
i.e. ] press e.
Append an s at the end of the entry [ passing additional parameters to
kernel ] and boot [ press b ].
This gives you a superuser shell. Hope you can take this further from there.
If you are using LILO, ctrl+x can help you. A bit of googling can give you
lot of information about this.
