Well, I never said anything related to that. > > was just trying to help the newbies, i will give an exampleI > if go to a swiming pool and jump in 20ft u are going to die if u don't > know how to swim same is the case here if u teach them how to make > rpm's without having a base it's not fruitful, so somehow wanting to > make their visit fruitful > Hmmm, your example is probably correct. But then we do not have any system by which we can understand the need of people in advance. We dont even know the skill sets or knowledge level of the people attending. Using your example, the problem is people dont know how deep the water is and the maintainer of the tank dont know the level of swmming in advance so that they can keep the water level accordingly. Thats why we try to announce in advance for any request for talks. If possible, we do arrange them. Its the people decide what they want. If noone speaks up, somebody else decides for them. > I agree to this completely !! > >In fct, PLUG meeting has > > been a very good meeting point for people to share their thoughts, > > resources (like CDs, books) and interacting with many other like > > minded people. > > Like Desi Penguin has suggested we can do that too. i think it sounds > as a good idea it could be a mega event ! > We do have some mega events like GNUNIFY. We do participate in exhibitions like the CMDA exhibitions where the visitors number is typically 3-4 Lakhs. Pluggies are very active in organising such installations and/or other events in their own colleges/instututes or even otherwise. eg. Devendra, AShish & Amit Karpe, Kaustubh (just to name a few) are very active and dedicated to these kind of activities. > I was just wanting to ask one thing, > isn't there a facility to provide live demo or something like that ??? > Yes, we do have a PC and a Projector available in the meeting. If we shift to a bigger hall, we do get amplifier system also. A PC and projector was available this time also. Somehow noone wanted to use it for their talks/discussions. NAvtej dropped in just to handover some UBUNTU CDs and went off. I thought off showing those CDs at the end, but then it was getting late. > PS:- the rpm thing aditya taught was gr8 but was lacking a practical > demo. If he would have builded an rpm right in front of us it would > have been gr8. > > -- I hope I have answered most of the points raised. -Sudhanwa -- ______________________________________________________________________ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: (plug-mail@plug.org.in) List Information: http://plug.org.in/mailing-list/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions.
