I don't use MDK so can't answer your first q, but i got a neat answer for the second q, Well judging from you using mandrake (sorry but in linux world people _do_ judge you from your distribution ;-) ),As it will require you to recompile your kernel, i don't think you are going to like it too much, but its here for the adventurous guies anyway. Though check out, if may be mandrake has already applied the patches or has a different kernel package with these patches applied.
