Hey, I am using Dataone (BSNL) service since 2 months and believe it or not the speed rocks ! Even at the peak time it's gives maximum throughput I had taken the service as and when it was launched. i have a 256kbps connection and for your kind information the speed of the service does not depend upon the area. BSNL gives out ADSL connection it uses a higher frequency in the existing telephone line. To give you a rough approximation I get a speed of 30kbps+ i think that speed is goood enough unless u r upto something big ! The HOME500 plans seems to be worth in the whole deal. Only one thing is that they have a bandwidth limitation of 1GB(upload+download) and they charge 2rs/mb on any increase forward so that steals the whole cream from the ice cream !! anyways, I still would suggest you go for this service ! I have tried almost all type of connections you spoke about I will give u a brief on some of them Tata Indicom- Costly, speed fluctuates dangerously !! Reliance- 24rs/hr too costly !! Speed is good but not as it claims !! If there is conjestion in network all things slow up !! Airtel- USES GPRS awesome connection 5rs/daily u get approximately 3kbps download speed (not broadband but surely could be a replacement if u use a dialup) provided u have a GPRS enabled phone HACK:- If you have EDGE enabled phone u will get download speed upto 60kbps. Airtel is EDGE enabled network !!!! guys look into it !!! IDEA- Again uses GPRS but only available to POSTPAID coustomers I would also suggest you to look into Sify Broadband it's good and they have numerous schemes, only thing is it should be available in your area ! Call toll free no & see http://www.sifybroadband.com anyways I hope it solves all of your problems If you have any queries regarding the same mail me i have done a lot of research in this field. Thank You Rohan............as always -- ______________________________________________________________________ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: (plug-mail@plug.org.in) List Information: http://plug.org.in/mailing-list/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions.
