Dear All, I would like to share my experience of installing linux on IBM Laptops. Well people i recently bought an IBM LQ3 model laptop, which comes preloaded with Windows XP Home Edition licensed copy. Now the problem is that the operating system is dumped in a hidden partition along with other software's. So cutting short the discussion, i had mandrake 10.1, insert the cd, resize the windows partition, & install our dear linux.
Now comes the a minor problem, & it is that..... when i start linux, the screen becomes all mess i.e the display is not proper. one solution that i've found out now is that just while logging go to the console by Ctrl +Alt+F1 & then return to the login screen & everything is fine. so if anyone has some solution about how to configure the display, suggestions are welcome....
