unrar is fine, but doesnt work with spanned rar archives, especially those with password protection. rar from rarsoft works best with these, though it is rumoured to be backward incompatible with older versions of rar compression. In fact I was taking a looking at Gnome 2.10 and the latest Gnome Archive Manager has support for spanned as well as password protected rar files.
