Do you simply want to replace the mbr with a windows(dos?) mbr? (i drew that conclusion from your statement that you wanted to 'cure' the mbr. strange use of the word 'cure' though). i used to think that windows stores a backup of the mbr. on a search, i found out this webpage: http://www.sometips.com/tips/microsoft/226.htm which says that NTFS stores the backup of the mbr at the end of its volume. ( of course, i have no idea whether this is true or not) i'm not going to suggest any ways to do it(dd 446 bytes from the last sector of your first partition into the first sector of your drive) (because they may result in destroying your partition table or something). i guess it would be much easier to get a windows bootable disk and do the fdisk /mbr.
