Hello nikhil,
           Have you restarted machine after installing
and setting path?
            Also try to search file libjava.so by
locate command on your PC. I have jdk 1.5 installed on
 my machine and i get following results
 /root/sw/jdk1.5.0_01/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so
             The error tells that system is unable to
find java virtual machine.
            I also not able to see nay -v option to
java command it should be -version. Heres my results
on my pc.
Command:- java -version
Result:- java version "1.5.0_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition
(build 1.5.0_01-b08)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_01-b08, mixed
mode, sharing)
