can it be detected and mounted on (someone else's) box which has usb 2.0 ports ?

what about when you try to mount it manually? does it show any error messages?
for example, try doing a 
mount /dev/sda1 (or sdb1 or sdc1...) /media/somedirectory 
(i'm assuming that suse uses usb-storage, which will show the usb
storage devices as /dev/sda[n] )
