Correct. That is what I was doing. Lilo called the windows bootloader, which 
then booted either version.

I thought of that. Made changes accordingly to both lilo and grub. Neither 
worked.

This is what I plan to do. Reinstall window's bootloader, then make the 
partition inactive. Install grub on the linux partition after making it 
active. Anything wrong with this plan?
