Its possible, but you need to be a python developer for that I guess.
There is a library called libgmail. Along with this library there are 2
demo programs that are POP and SMTP proxy servers for GMail. These
convert POP and SMTP requests to HTTP requests to GMail. The problem is
that this does not incorporate HHTP proxying. But I think one can put it
in without a lot of effort if you know Python. A bit of hacking is
required, but shouldn't be very difficult.
