Try "knoppix " issued along with 'Linux for you' magazine every month.

You can load a full working LINUX from the bootable CD, play around over
windows, while you shut down everything gets unloaded from the RAM, AND you
are back to windows.

Sometimes this disturbs your bios settings. Take care.
