Try running yahoo messenger from terminal. open Konsole under KDE and type ymessenger. Now when it hangs, check if there are any messeges on the terminal. If yes, post them here. Also, you can try using kopete or gaim, instead of yahoo messenger for linux. These are much better, and are multi-protocol clients. You can connect to msn and others too using these! Cheers!
