I put antiX linux on my 16G ram laptop for my trip to Pagosa Springs CO a while back because it claimed to be 'low memory friendly'.
It has more than lived up to its claim. So much so that I've installed it on my 2007-ish HP desktop with 3G of ram. Instead of pushing the 'almost running from swap' status, I'm staying at under half of the ram used! Of course, I've not loaded a bunch of tabs in firefox, but in the 16G laptop it feels more like 24G or more, compared to my Mint 16G laptop. So, if you don't have a lot of RAM, try antiX. (Its also a Debian or Ubuntu derivative). It has some 'big' differences in menus and stuff, but I like it better than the other 'low memory' distro I tried a while back (don't remember which, sorry!). --------------------------------------------------- PLUG-discuss mailing list: [email protected] To subscribe, unsubscribe, or to change your mail settings: https://lists.phxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
