Once your USB drive is created, open it from within Windows and run Setup. Again, you should not need to boot off the USB drive. Finish setup and your OS will be updated. This is a Linux mailing list and you can get pretty far with Crossover Linux and such, but there are a lot of things that won't run. If you're using it to browse the Internet and use web apps then that works just as well in any Linux distribution.
