I tried a conversion a while back (relative using Windows ==> KeypassX on my Linux). Best suggestion I have is to copy the original file to backup, copy again to a working test copy and work on that copy. It's slippery at times and may fail a conversion, so it's good to be able to dump the broken file and try again with a new copy of the (safe on backups!) original. IIRC it took me 3-4 tries to get a successful import from a v2 database to the X version, but the import may have improved since then (in fact I might have been using an external converter, hard to be certain, much has happened in the year+ since then).
