Package: cockpit-storaged
Version: 295-1
Severity: important
Hi,
the latest update of libblockdev from version 2.28 to 3.0 has seen some
major changes, among them an SONAME bump.
Please test cockpit(-storaged) against the new libblockdev and update
the libblockdev-mdraid2 dependency to libblockdev-mdraid3.
Regards,
Michael

Argh, I forgot to close the bug via the changelog. Closing manually.

Thanks for the warning! Without libblockdev-mdraid trying to create an md array
gave a rather obscure error message ("function mdblabla not implemented"). Now
that the blockdev API is available via dependency, removing the mdadm package
gives an error message
Error creating RAID array: The 'mdadm' utility is not available
which seems fairly clear to me. Thus I think we shouldn't force an mdadm
dependency, as not every user needs that, and it comes with some overhead
(stuff in initrd, boot systemd units, etc.). So I'll just add a Suggests:
instead: https://github.com/cockpit-project/cockpit/pull/19098
Cheers!
