In Python 3.5.4, smtpd has been formally marked as deprecated. Code that
imports this library will no longer work from Python 3.12, which is
currently in Trixie.
Since volume-key use this Python library, please prepare for this
removal and migrate away from them.

I only see usage of those deprecated APIs in
contrib/email/tests/mailsrv.py
This is not a python script that is shipped in python3-volume-key or
required to build the package.
Thus I think it's safe to close this bug report (along with #1040116) ,
given that this file is not actually used.
