Now I did the upgrade on my bare metal installation and there the problem does not show up (in contrast to the virtualized one). So it is most likely the upstream issue you have mentioned. However, it is unclear/difficult for me how to try out the in the upstream issue mentioned "pushed fix" in my vm. As you have suggested, I have made an entry to the upstream bug report that I am probably also affected, although the issue seems to be already closed.
