If installing inetutils-syslogd breaks logging under systemd, this is a bug in the inetutils-syslogd package and should be tracked as such. rsyslog or syslog-ng work fine when being installed under systemd and this is supposed to work. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
