For the record, I have just migrated another box from sysvinit to systemd. This time I ran: # aptitude --purge-unused install systemd-sysv \ systemd-shim_ sysvinit-core_ when running under systemd (after having manually passed the init=/bin/systemd boot parameter to the Linux kernel). The subsequent reboot completed without hanging. I still have to figure out why I get some FAILED messages (such as for the unmounting of /var) during every shutdown (since the system was migrated to systemd), but everything else seems to work fine. Any ideas? This second box has LVM (instead of software RAID), if this helps... Thanks to you all for your help and support! -- http://www.inventati.org/frx/ There's not a second to spare!
