Well, that's a bit weird. On my systemd system, it looks like this.

glaubitz@z6:~> ps -p1 f
  PID TTY      STAT   TIME COMMAND
    1 ?        Ss     0:54 /lib/systemd/systemd --system --deserialize 20
glaubitz@z6:~>

What does systemctl | head say?
