Hello, I'm writing here because this address is listed as the maintainer of goocanvas, but I'm not a member of this team, so please keep me in Cc.
goocanvas 2.0.2 is in Debian experimental thanks to the work of Hideki Yamane. I need it because it's a dependency of ocrfeeder 0.8, so I made an NMU to correct some serious problems (#751969). The version available now (2.0.2-1.1) seems to work fine (for me at least). Now, there is a number of packages that depend on the old version of goocanvas (gpredict) or its bindings (openshot, conduit, advene, shutter, ...). I haven't checked them but I don't think there's a trivial migration path, so we cannot just get rid of the old version. That means that the only way to have goocanvas 2 in unstable is to have a new source package and keep both the old and the new one in the repository (that's what Ubuntu seems to do as well). As it is now, I believe goocanvas 2.0.2-1.1 is in a good shape, so in principle no extra packaging work should be needed at this point. The question is: is the current maintainer team willing to have both packages? I could offer some help, but I don't now if I would have the time to care of it and keep it up to date in a regular basis.
