0.9.0-x wouldn't work. You could use a tilde, so that: 0.9.0~x-1 < 0.9.0-1 But this might be better used only with real release candidate versions (something like 0.9.0~rc1) Personally I would vote for an SVN version which includes the date: 0.8.4+svn20090604.2778 > debconf scripts so that a default install would at least provide a working > default configuration on apache2 or lighttpd.
