Package: pulseaudio
Version: 2.0-5
Severity: important
Hi.
Severity important as it IMHO contradicts the FHS and is thereby against the
Debian Policy.
pulseaudio seems to create /.pulse and /.pulse-cookie (again and again).
The root of the filesystem is surely not the place for any Tom, Dick and Harry
to create files there, neither pulseaudio.
I guess these files should likely go to some place below /var.
Cheers,
Chris.

This issue was fixed by alsa-utils 1.0.27.2-1, as it now sets $HOME to
/var/run/alsa.
Unfortunately, this will still be a problem for wheezy, unless you want
ask for a stable update.
I am closing this bug as it is actually a problem with alsa-utils.
