Package: inkscape
Version: 0.92.0-3~bpo8+1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
inkscape package in jessie backports, as every inkscape >=0.92, needs
libpango of version >=1.37.1 to render fonts correctly. However, the
package dependency says "libpango1.0-0 >=1.22" which is not correct.
Look at upstream bug for more details:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1658446/comments/2
Of course, another part of this bug would be that there is no libpango
package in jessie-backports, of a sufficient version. We need to
rebuild/backport it from testing. (Pass this bug to libpango
maintainers?)

Yeah, but I won't do it.
I'm aware of this, but this requires backporting libpango, which I won't
do, and I don't think it makes much sense at this point of time. Debian
stretch is due in few months, and I don't think the required effort (or,
rather than the effor, the commitment) of backporting libpango is worth
it for an *optional* feature.
As the blog post su_v linked in the upstream bug says, this feature of
inkscape is very brittle anyway, as very few fonts and SVG renderes can
deal with it.
Sorry, but I suggest that you stick with your local rebuilt that you
did, and just wait for stretch, which should come fairly soon.
FYI, I'm going to do another backport upload today (backporting some
more fixes from the 0.92.x upstream branch), and I think this will be
the last one for jessie-backports, unless the release team grants me an
exception for uploading 0.92.1 after the stretch freeze.
