This regression bugs me so much that I prepared a little script to fix
it for any affected version you may have on your system with some
reason preventing you from simply upgrading. So, here it is:

for future reference, also attached.
I hope operating system distribution maintainers will pick this up to
avoid having folks locked in suboptimal mpg123 functionality for whole
distribution release cycles.
