You added a ./configure option to request VDPAU, but you forgot to bump libavformat/libavcodec versions in build-depends, as described earlier in this bugreport. Please consider bumping versions of these libs to 6:9 at least. (This is what we have to do when backporting vlc to wheezy for example). Reopening this bugreport, because the solution is incomplete.
