Thank you for your time to report this bug against the Debian libav package. This software bug needs to be addressed by the upstream developers. I strongly suspect that your mp4 files are in some way corrupt (either damaged or produced by a funny encoder), so we'd need some example files that allow developers to reproduce this problem on their machines.
