Well, that would be done by revising the Build-Depends to ..., libffado-dev (>= 2.0.0) [linux-any] <!stage1>, ... But since the new syntax is incompatible with the tools currently in stable, we won't be able to do uploads with that syntax until at least after the jessie release. In the meantime, it's still useful to porters to have this ready to go and just pass -d to dpkg-buildpackage.
