- lintian currently runs havoc on the packages, as does
dpkg-shlibdeps. AFAIUI the cause is mostly SONANE-less .so files in
the avidemux-plugins-* packages. I am not sure how to get rid of these
warnings, maybe we should pass a -X flag to dh_makeshlibs or similar.

There are still a lot of lintian warnings left. Most of them are justified (embedded libraries, libraries without versioned SONAMES, non-PIC in the libraries, etc.), some others are just cosmetic or just pedantic.

- I have not yet checked for obsolete or missing Build-Depends, the
package just somehow compiled on my system. I believe that at least
twolame, vdpau and gettext are somehow missing.

I was mistaken about gettext, but added libtwolame-dev, libvdpau-dev and some others. Especially the ones needed to unpack and patch the included ffmpeg source tarball seemed forgotten.

- I have not yet checked debian/copyright, I have not even had a faint
look at it. It most propbably needs some serious review.

Phew, well, today I tried to sort out this mess a bit. The bad news is, it's a MESS! The even worse news is that I found an embedded libmp4v2 library in avidemux_plugins/ADM_muxers/muxerMp4v2. This one is MPL-licensed, most of the rest is GPL-licensed. Both are incompatible, so the result is non-redistributable.

This might be the end of the journey for Avidemux in Debian. At least I am going to stop working on it now until this has been clarified or circumvented.
