Output (XCB)" was the default video output. Can you please check what
video output vlc uses when you configure it to "Default"?

VLC uses "XVideo Output (XCB)" (xcb_xv) as its default video output. The problem that you are having with xvideo is because your video drivers are buggy and don't support XVideo properly (prime example: VirtualBox XVideo and certain other binary blob drivers are buggy).
