HI Rogerio, thank you for submitting (some of) our patches to handbrake upstream.
Are you in active cantact with handbrake upstream? I mean, do they already know that what they are currently doing (i.e. distributing binaries copies of MPEG reference code in FAAC and linked together GPL+MPL code) is "legally interesting", to say the least? And that they bring others parties who want to distribute handbrake like us in similarly awkward situations because of the hardcoded dependencies on these libraries? Are there plans to get rid of FAAC and MP4V2 upstream?
Honestly, I think porting handbrake from FAAC to VO-AACENC (or whatever) and from MP4V2 to LIBAVFORMAT, ATOMICPARSLEY, GPAC (or whatever) is not a typical task for a packager/distributor. And since this issues need to get solved anyway for handbrake to remain legally distributable, is there anyone working on it upstream?
