Dear maintainers, don't know if you already know this but the build error on i386 results from the following debian/rules entry:
waf-configure-options += $(if $(filter i386,$(DEB_HOST_ARCH)),--mixed) Not sure if this switch is necessary as I do not really use jack but recompiling without it resulted in built packages, maybe this helps you.
