I have removed the module "widgetman", I'm curious to see what
upstream intends to do with it.
BTW, have you ever got in touch with upstream and informed him about
these issues?

Rijndael [1] (a.k.a. AES) is a public specification and unencumbered by patents.
I don't know what the original coder was referring to.
