Hi, I don't pretend to be as 'in the loop' as you guys but speaking to Paul Davis on Ardour IRC a few weeks ago it seemed Ardour was going to migrate to a self contained binary model (like Renoise or EnergyXT has). If this coincides with an alpha A3 release then the dependencies etc will be radically different and compilation not required. I know this is in the works but not when it will appear.
