We ran into this issue with Debian Edu, where we are working on making the Lenny based release these days. Running audacity via an LTSP client fail to give working sound by default. LTSP support ESD and pulseaudio, neither which seem to be working with audacity. I looked for a global configuration file I could use to change the default for all users, but failed to find any. Is there some environment variable we can set to enable ESD, pulseaudio or ALSA (which can be configured to use pulseaudio)?
