Hi, The Debian Technical Committee has been asked to rule on whether to disallow the use of dpkg's vendor-specific patch support in the Debian archive. As you either maintain or are interested in a package that uses this support, you might want to be aware of this discussion and possibly participate. The bug number is 904302.
