I guess I'm not your target audience, as I'm not a Qt/KDE contributor; I just 
hang out here to get help with digikam packaging.

I've only ever followed the Debian Science / Debian Med policy that includes 
upstream source.  When I did try to build from a debian-only repo, I found the 
workflow awkward.  I don't see the value in that.
