I am new to debian packaging - I had some contact with Steve M. Robbins regarding building digikam and doing some bug triaging, that's about it. Exiv2 in debian is ancient and (not so) recently the project picked up two new devs and has developed a lot (amongst others the pile of CVS bugs against 0.26 has been addressed). I have tried to package the 0.27 release and published the results to https://salsa.debian.org/imsodin-guest/exiv2/tree/debian-0.27 I am aware this is probably the worst moment in the debian release cycle, but if anyone wants to give me feedback regardless that would be nice. Otherwise this email hopefully serves as a notification to the relevant maintainers such that they may profit from it once the new testing cycle starts.
Personally, after the 0.26 disastrous release, I would prefer if projects move away from exiv2.
Anyway, please ping us back after the release. In the meantime, I could review some 0.25 fixes backports.
