--- Begin Message ---Package: kdesudo Version: 3.4.2.3-2+b1 Severity: important File: /usr/bin/kdesudo Tags: squeeze Bug description: kdesudo stops working (does not launch the password dialog) in the current KDE login session, but it used to work in a previous login session. This bug is observed in a fresh install of Debian squeeze (with KDE desktop selected) from debian-6.0.1a-amd64-1386-netinst.iso Reproduction: -- restart/reboot the system. -- login to KDE desktop session. -- open anything requiring root permission (eg. synaptic or kuser). -- kdesudo will open dialog for root password. -- do not select the "remember password" checkbox. -- enter root password to start the application, then quit the application. -- logout. -- login again to KDE desktop session (same user as above). -- open anything requiring root permission (eg. synaptic or kuser). -- kdesudo will no longer work for this user. -- restart/reboot the system to reproduce the above. Additional info: Restarting the xserver using the menu on the login screen does not help. The only fix I found was to restart/reboot. The bug is user-account specific. That is, kdesudo can be working for one user but be broken for another (until restart/reboot). Work around: Always select the "remember password" checkbox. Then kdesudo will still work for you after logout/login. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages kdesudo depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0 1.5.36.1 Debian configuration management sy ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.4.5-1 runtime components from the offici ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.5-8 GCC support library ii libkdecore5 4:4.4.5-2+squeeze1 the KDE Platform Core Library ii libkdeui5 4:4.4.5-2+squeeze1 the KDE Platform User Interface Li ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.6.3-4 Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-svg 4:4.6.3-4 Qt 4 SVG module ii libqtcore4 4:4.6.3-4 Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.6.3-4 Qt 4 GUI module ii libstdc++6 4.4.5-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii sudo 1.7.4p4-2.squeeze.2 Provide limited super user privile kdesudo recommends no packages. kdesudo suggests no packages. -- debconf information excluded

--- Begin Message ---Dear submitter, these bug are tagged squeeze without any wheezy/jessie/stretch tag implying that the bug is not present in more recent Debian releases. squeeze is no longer supported. We are sorry that we couldn't deal with your issue in squeeze. If this bug was incorrectly tagged squeeze, please reopen the bug and remove the squeeze tag. cu Adrian -- "Is there not promise of rain?" Ling Tan asked suddenly out of the darkness.
