Package: kaffeine
Version: 1.0-2
Severity: normal
I have noticed that latest versions of Kaffeine have too high CPU usage.
Playing back video files or watching digital TV with Kaffeine takes about twice
as much CPU time
as doing it using xine. This is strange since Kaffeine uses xine libs for
playback. Until Debian Lenny there were no such problems. It appears in Squeeze
and
current testing release.
This makes Kaffeine useless for older CPUs. For example I can watch digital TV
an my old Pentium III PC without problems using xine or Lenny release. It takes
about 45% CPU time
and is OK. Using Kaffeine in Squeeze CPU is busy at 95 % and playback drops
out after a while.
Please save our climate and money and fix this. Power is more and more
expansive :-)

Dear Submitter,
I have closed your report as it is against a very old version of kaffeine
which is no longer supported by Debian.
I am sorry we have not been able to resolve this issue for you.
Upstream also provide support for kaffeine here: http://hftom.free.fr/phpBB2/
If this is an ongoing issue, could I ask you to file a new report against a
newer version of kaffeine which is supported by Debian.
