We already considered that. The r-base package has a lot of reverse-dependencies, but rkward is a leaf package. At this point of the release cycle, updating rkward seems a lot less risky option than re-uploading r-base again. (Also: I'm not the r-base maintainer, I just joined efforts with Dirk to try to salvage rkward).
