About the SVN revision I'm quoting: why can't we use the svn-info.xml file that is created in get-orig-source? Or you think we shouldn't insert the plugin version at all in ywms and validator (but this sounds me as a silly idea)? If you agree, I'm ready to commit in a patch. Another question: I've seen that you have already signalled upstream a few patches we had applied in Josm. Have you done the same with all of them (30_graphics in josm and 10_validator in josm-plugins)? Are you in touch directly with Frederik Ramm or through josm-dev? Could you use the latter, please, so I can track and participate to the discussion going on?
