The cl-postoffice package shipped by quicklisp and Debian is very old, the upstream has improved it much, but it requires to be ported again: http://github.com/franzinc/imap I forked that git repos to http://github.com/Dieken/imap and tries a little on branch "porting", but sorry I'm not very familiar with common lisp, so I let it be just for your reference.
